Plasma Cleaning for FPC to Achieve Perfect Lamination

The PM-V84 DVG3 plasma cleaning machine is an atmospheric plasma generator. It is different from other models in that a host has 4 plasma spray guns, so it can effectively process relatively wide materials at one time . At the same time, each spray gun can be controlled individually. If you only need to deal with a relatively small area, you can only turn on one spray gun, two or three, which is flexible and does not affect production.

In addition to these advantages, this model can also be used inline with existing production line equipment, such as installation in assembly lines, glue dispensers, robots and printing presses.

Fangrui Technology’s multi-gun plasma processor can be widely used in the cleaning of FPC flexible circuit boards. During the production process of FPC circuit boards, some oil and other organic pollutants will be brought into the surface. These pollutants will seriously affect the subsequent processes, such as lamination and coating, which will greatly reduce the quality of the products.

Plasma treat the FPC

Due to the characteristics of FPC flexible circuit board, such as small size, light weight, light weight, and bendability, if the traditional process is used, it is easy to damage the substrate and affect the use effect of the product.

Plasma dry cleaning can now effectively solve these problem:

  1. Ultra-fine cleaning to fine holes improves the bond between the hole and the copper plating layer and prevents the copper plating inside from cracking
  2. Remove the thin line dry film remaining on the surface of the FPC soft board
  3. Surface cleaning of FPC flexible circuit board before BGA packaging to improve gold wire bonding force
  4. Low temperature plasma cleaning without electricity, no need to worry about damage to the line

After plasma cleaning, the FPC circuit board can be increased from the original 30 dyne value to more than 60 dyne value, which fully proves that the surface has been ultra-finely cleaned and activated, which meets the needs of the subsequent process.

The PM-V84 rotary plasma used in this case is used in conjunction with our custom-made pipeline. When in use, the four spray guns are dislocated and installed above the assembly line with the help of brackets, which realizes efficient cleaning of FPC flexible circuit boards covering a width of 320mm at one time, and the sprayed low-temperature plasma does not damage the basic energy of the FPC flexible circuit board itself.
